Pangea was formed in early 2002 by members of the GVSU Steelband. The group performs in the tradition of the great steelbands of Trinidad, but also plays arrangements of soca, calypso, and Latin/jazz tunes, as well as original compositions for this instrumentation. Pangea performs actively throughout West Michigan at functions such as weddings, company picnics, music festivals, and various events looking for a unique Caribbean feel.
