| Gregrey Secor is currently an instructor at Grand Valley State University, and Hope College where he directs the Percussion Ensembles, the Steelband (GVSU) and teaches courses in music literature. Secor is a member of the percussion section of the Kalamazoo Symphony, and performs regularly with the Grand Rapids Symphony. He is active as a steeldrum performer with Pangea, and is half of the Coalescence Percussion Duo with Kalamazoo-based percussionist Judy Moonert. In addition, he performs with The Opus 21: Music Without Boundaries Group (www.opus.org)with recent performances in Ann Arbor and New York at Merkin Hall in 2003, 2004 and May 2005 at The Knitting Factory and Symphony Space in 2006. In 2001, and 2005, Secor performed at the New Music Focus Day of the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Nashville TN, and Columbus OH. In 2006 Coalescence will perform at the PAS Convention in Austin TX. Recent commissions for solo works have been composed by Christopher Deane, Pieter Snapper and Rupert Kettle. Secor received the Bachelor of Music degree from Western Michigan University, where he studied with Judy Moonert, and the Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati's College / Conservatory of Music where his teachers were Benjamin Toth and Al Otte. |
